London, England is the capital city of the United Kingdom and is widely renowned as being one of the most important cities in the financial and political world. London is also home to the oldest underground rail system in the world which is over one hundred and forty years old. London also, is one of the largest cities in Europe. In fact, London is over 600 square miles in total area.

As mentioned, London has the underground rail system called the Tube, which can take you to almost any destination in and around the city within just a few minutes. This is how the majority of people living in London travel, as the road traffic can be very gridlocked on most days. Prices on the Tube are very reasonable and will save you a lot of time and money as an alternative to travelling by taxi, bus or private car.

Of course you could not visit London without taking a ride in one of the many hundreds of London Taxis, where the taxi driver would normally tell you about someone famous that they had in their taxi the night before. Taxi drivers know the quickest routes around the city and where to avoid at peak times, this is quite often the quickest way of travelling to your destination.

Today there are over 7 million people living in the city of London. They come from many varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds and speak a wide variety of languages and dialects. London is located in the south of England which tends to get warmer weather than up in the North of Scotland. The city of London really does have something to offer everyone whether you are seeking work or you just want to enjoy some of the varied attractions.

London has a lot of green areas around the city and it is not all residential and commercial buildings. Two of the largest parks are Hyde Park and Regents Park. These are open space areas in the city and can make a great setting for a picnic or simply just a way to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. They are so large you could get yourself lost in them if you could not find the exits.

If you have a bit more time to spare, then a scenic trip on one of the famous London double-decker buses can be a great way to get in some sightseeing around the city. They will take you to Trafalgar Square, London Bridge, Big Ben and Parliament House and Buckingham Palace and many more of Londons famous buildings, castles and cathedrals.
