Kitchen Design Tips And Tricks

When people renovate their homes, they often literally think of everything but the kitchen sink. Don’t forget your kitchen faucets when upgrading your home.

While many people think all faucets are alike, a quick trip to a home improvement store will show that theory is wrong. There are many styles and choices to make in kitchen faucets. By simply changing your faucet, you can add a whole new look to your kitchen. On the other hand, if you renovate your whole home but ignore the kitchen faucet, your kitchen will look dreary.

Before you buy, think about what you like about your current faucet. Do you like the current color and style? Now think about what you would prefer? Would you like traditional two-handle design? Perhaps you would prefer a lever-action model or one with a hose attachment to reach awkwardly shaped cookware. Be sure to consider the aesthetics of kitchen faucets. There are models available in chrome, brushed aluminum, brass and even gold matching your kitchen flooring . Think about how your kitchen will ultimately look: If you prefer a homey look, get a faucet with an antique look to it. If you prefer a more streamlined look, get a sleek chrome model.

Of course you will want to consider your budget when you choose kitchen faucets. Visit several stores and shop online to find the best models for your budget. When you compare prices be sure to account for sales taxes and shipping fees. They can make a big difference in your final price. Most faucets are easily affordable by most home owners.

Don’t be intimidated at the thought of replacing your old faucet. Actually, it is usually a fairly simple process. First of all, shut off the water to the sink. Then, look for the cap that covers the screw that holds the faucet in place. Remove the cap, and then remove the screw. The faucet can usually be simply lifted off, to be replaced by the new faucet. Replace the screw and the cap and you’re done.

Of course, it is a little more complex to install a faucet with a hose attachment.  You may have to drill a whole through the countertop then connect the water feed lines as shown in the instructions. Then turn the water back on. It really is not a difficult job if you follow directions carefully.

When you have changed your faucet, you will be proud of yourself at what you have accomplished. You will also be delighted at how such a small change can make such a big difference in your kitchen. It is well worth the time and effort to put in a new faucet. Who knows? You may find you actually enjoy doing the dishes for a change.
