Lower priced air conditioner units often have manual controls while higher priced units may include a dehumidifier or a heater. These units often come with a window bracket and exhaust hose for easy installation and venting of hot air to insure proper cooling. They save energy compared to a central air conditioner because you are able to target only the area you want cooled with a portable air conditioner.

It hould be noted that you will have to keep these units next to a window to allow the hot air to be vented to the outside. They have a special exhaust tube that is used which goes out of the window.
